Thank you for your interest in joining a Special Interest Group (SIG).

SIG Description

The Housing SIG will provide an opportunity for chapter staff to network with and learn from one another in the area of housing. The Housing SIG will include:

  • a Google group, facilitated by a NCE volunteer and a national staff member
  • periodic conference calls (perhaps twice a year),
  • face-to-face gatherings, where possible, at events such as Summer Leadership, Disability Policy Seminar, and Convention, and
  • sharing of information with other NCE members thru the NCE newsletter.

  1. Liz Mahar

    Program Manager, Individual and Family Support, The Arc, Washington, DC

    Liz Mahar joined The Arc in 2014 as a program manager on the HealthMeet initiative and The Arc’s Center for Future Planning. Previously, she spent five years as a consultant and Managing Supervisor for FleishmanHillard, managing stakeholder relations for government-funded public health campaigns on topics including binge drinking, drug abuse, and chronic diseases. In addition, Liz brings social policy expertise from five years of working on Capitol Hill. Liz is also the sibling of a young adult with I/DD.

  2. Joseph Mengoni

    Vice President of Residential & Clinical Services, United Cerebral Palsy Seguin of Greater Chicago, Cicero, IL

    Joseph Mengoni has been involved in residential administration at UCP Seguin for over 25 years, primarily responsible for the expansion of mission and services from 30 small residential homes to over 70 homes in 23 different communities to date. As one of the leaders in residential services in Illinois, Joe has worked closely with Illinois state officials to close down large congregate state institutions, moving over 30 individuals into smaller community residential homes over a short period of time. Most currently Joe is involved in a ten organization collaborative to create a training manual on the “How To’s” of residential services geared towards new organizations wanting to become new residential providers or organizations looking to expand their mission and open up new group homes.
