Transportation Issues for People with Disabilities

Despite two landmark pieces of legislation which require accessibility to public transportation for people with disabilities, many transportation services are still not accessible as policies are not always implemented and funding is not provided. Transportation is a vital lifeline for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), providing them with access to employment, education, health care and community life – all aspects of living independently.
