NCE Rising Star Award

PURPOSE

The award recognizes an Executive Director/President/CEO who is in his or her first 5 years in that role with a chapter of The Arc, and who has made significant contributions to their chapter. This individual must demonstrate support for the core values of The Arc.

CRITERIA FOR NOMINATION

The nominee must be a first time Executive Director/President/CEO of a Chapter of The Arc with 5 years or less experience. This individual must be a current member of NCE.

JUDGING CRITERIA

The nomination letter and supporting documentation should give evidence of ways in which this individual has supported the Core Values of The Arc: People First, Community Participation, Democracy, Visionary Leadership, Diversity, and Integrity and Excellence.

Characteristics that will be considered will include creativity and enthusiasm within their chapter of The Arc.

Examples would be expansion of supports and/or services, strong and effective advocacy, improving efficiencies, increasing revenues, etc. The individual needs to be a strong leader with a motivational management style and reputation for building and retaining a highly motivated team. The individual must be results - orientated achiever with an excellent track record for identifying opportunities for accelerated growth. The individual must have outstanding work ethics and moral character. The individual's knowledge and skill must have greatly improved staff morale and the quality of services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In addition, the nomination needs to show consistency for performing duties with the utmost professional qualities.
