Genesee ARC plans to improve and expand its ability to provide service to its community to reduce, reuse and recycle electronic waste. Employment for individuals with I/DD will improve as new job opportunities are a vital part of the expansion efforts.
Project plans include a new Drop Off Center with convenient hours for community members to encourage electronic waste recycling. An individual with I/DD will be involved with community education, training, committee participation and resulting employment.
- The development and implementation of a county wide Community Green Advisory Board with the primary focus of encouraging e-recycling efforts throughout the county. An individual with I/DD will be a key member functioning in a leadership role.
- Partnership with local municipalities supporting the establishment of a e-waste Drop Off Center with convenient hours for community use. Employment opportunities will increase for individuals with disabilities as a result of growth in recycling services, including e-recycling.
- Community education about benefits of e-recycling and its importance for our environment will be a focus. Partnership with local school districts, County Youth Bureau and Community College will support educational presentations and tours. Individual with I/DD will lead efforts as part of community education efforts.
