Project Description

The intent of the LifeCYCLE Project, as proposed by Kreider Services, Inc., is to provide regular, consistent work for persons with a developmental and/or intellectual disability in Lee, Ogle and Whiteside Counties of northern Illinois. The crux of this proposal is to expand the electronics recycling program of Kreider Services to include job opportunities for individuals with either an intellectual or developmental disability. A secondary component of this project is to utilize the existing Aktion Club affiliated with Kreider as an advocacy group to educate the general public about the need to properly recycle electronic equipment.

Project Highlights

The LifeCYCLE Project of Kreider Services is seeking to develop a business unit that will assist in offsetting the loss of traditional (conventional) funding from the state of Illinois. To a greater human perspective this project will create job opportunities for persons with an intellectual and/or developmental disabilities who are currently unemployed or underemployed. This job creation will be implemented without taking jobs away from current employment opportunities. Finally, this project will assist efforts to improve the environment by diverting hundreds of tons of electronics from landfill operations. Additionally, the recycling of these electronics will provide the developers of this project to seek out research and development options for these now returned raw commodities, which can be used for manufacturing new products; thereby providing longer term job sustainability for other persons with disabilities.
