TJ SutcliffeDirector, Income and Housing Policy

T.J. Sutcliffe has worked at The Arc since 2011, when she joined the national office after 6 years as the Director of Advocacy and Public Policy at The Arc of the District of Columbia (The Arc of D.C.). Ms. Sutcliffe specializes in federal public policy related to Social Security, income support, housing, and poverty. She co-chairs the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) Social Security Task Force and Housing Task Force and serves on the CCD Board as a Director-At-Large. Her experience prior to joining The Arc of D.C. in 2005 includes 7 years at So Others Might Eat (SOME) directing public policy and advocacy initiatives to address homelessness in Washington, D.C., and 4 years in public health research on topics including HIV/AIDS, cancer, and substance abuse. Additionally, from 2009 to 2012 Ms. Sutcliffe taught a Masters’ level course in public policy at The Catholic University of America. She is a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance and a Commissioner on the D.C. Access to Justice Commission. Ms. Sutcliffe has a Masters of Social Work from The Catholic University of America and a Bachelor of Arts from Johns Hopkins University, cum laude.
