Join The Arc’s FASD Prevention Initiative!

The Arc invites all Chapters of The Arc to get involved with the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs) Prevention Project.

The Arc is dedicated to reducing the incidence of FASDs, which are caused by maternal consumption of alcohol during pregnancy. The FASDs Prevention Project educates health care professionals and providers (doctors, nurses, etc.) about the dangers of alcohol use during pregnancy and the need for appropriate alcohol screening and treatment to prevent FASDs. A significant gap in provider knowledge continues to exist and many providers still feel that it is safe for a woman to consume a small amount of alcohol during pregnancy, despite all studies which indicate that any alcohol usage during pregnancy places a child at risk.

Our ability to mobilize local advocates, volunteers and personnel of The Arc to personally connect with local health care professionals and provide them with educational materials is a critical component in delivering our message and achieving our mission. Therefore, we invite all chapters to:
