Harmful Health Care Bill is Coming Back - Call Congress Now!

Congress will be in recess April 10 - 21. And this week, Members of the House of Representatives and the Trump Administration are having renewed discussions on the American Health Care Act - which would repeal major provisions of the Affordable Care Act and decimate Medicaid (learn more here).

We are asking that you share this new Action Alert with your networks and urge them to contact their Members of Congress to remind them how important the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Medicaid are to people with disabilities and their families. Click here for a short script and contact information to call your Members of Congress. It only takes a few minutes to tell them how important Medicaid and the ACA are in your life. We know that calls, sharing personal stories, showing up at Town hall meetings, work – we need to make it clear once and for all that the ACA and Medicaid are off limits.

Please encourage your networks to take action to protect the ACA and Medicaid for people with disabilities and their families.

Small Action, BIG Impact!
By Amie Lulinski, Director of Research and Evaluation, The Arc

Did you know 60% of family caregivers provide more than 40 hours of support per week?

That's A LOT of hours!

Our advocacy is at its best when we have concrete data (like this) to back it up. This statistic, and others like it, help provide unique insight into caregiver needs as well as the growing gaps in education, employment, and other life-span activities that exist between persons with I/DD and their peers without, which has in turn informed further dialogue and policy changes at the Federal and State levels.

So, please consider helping us paint a modern and diverse picture of disability across America by disseminating our FINDS survey to update data we collected last in 2010.

The survey seeks caregivers (family or otherwise) living in the US and its Territories aged 18+ who provide frequent, primary support to share their experiences. The deadline is April 30. Can we count on you? Consider taking 5 minutes to share with your networks via email, social media, newsletters, or via flyers at events. It’s easy—we’ve already created all the materials for you! You can find sample messaging, materials, and the survey itself at Please let me know if you have any further questions at or 202-534-3724.
