IDEA Technical Assistance and Dissemination

Why the Program is Needed

State and local school systems need help in order to provide quality educational programs to students with disabilities.  They want to know what scientifically-based practices will result in the best outcomes for their students. They especially need technical assistance in order to ensure that students with disabilities are fully included in school accountability systems.

What it does

Provides grants or contracts to implement projects which provide technical assistance or disseminate information. Projects address many topics, including diagnosis-specific information (e.g., autism, deafness, learning disabilities), dispute resolution, raising a child with a disability or other special health-care need, parental rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), positive behavior supports and transition, among others.
